Governance

The operational bodies of the SIG ECUME are the Steering Committee, the Scientific Council, the coordinator and the General Assembly.

The Steering Committee is composed of the representatives each of the partners of the SIG. Its main role is to deliberate on the SIG’s scientific orientations and budget, to approve research projects and to decide on any activity of the SIG ECUME.

The Scientific Council is made up of 17 independent scientific experts, appointed in a personal capacity.  The members of the Scientific Council propose research projects in line with the scientific priorities of the SIG ECUME and carry out those projects subsequent to validation by the Steering Committee.

The Co-ordinator ensures the functioning of the SIG, is involved in setting up its research projects and represents the SIG at various events related to its scientific objectives.

The General Assembly is held once a year to review the year’s actions, present research activities of the SIG and its partners and to discuss future initiatives. It is open to any person or organisation with an interest in the issues addressed by the SIG, and provides a platform to exchange with the various stakeholders on the subject of cumulative effects at sea.
