The Fécamp offshore wind farm was awarded to EDF Renewables and its partners (EIH S.à r.l. owned by Enbridge Inc. and CPP Investments, and Skyborn Renewables) in April 2012, at the same time as two other French projects: Calvados and Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique).
The Fécamp offshore wind farm is the first operational offshore wind farm in Normandy, and the third in France. It comprises 71 offshore wind turbines with a total output of around 500 megawatts.
The wind turbines are located between 13 and 24 km off the coast of Fécamp, over a total area of 60 km² and covering less than 1% of the seafloor in this area.
The wind farm’s output covers the equivalent of the domestic electricity consumption of more than 770,000 people, or more than 60% of the population of the Seine-Maritime department.
