CRPMEM

The Regional Committee of Maritime Fisheries and Marine Fish Farming (CRPMEM – Comité Régional des Pêches Maritimes et des Élevages Marins) of in Normandy is a professional organisation of fishermen covering 700 km of coastline from the Mont-Saint-Michel to Tréport. Its head office is located in Cherbourg-Octeville, 9 quai Lawton Collins. It has several local branches in Granville, Blainville-sur-Mer, Cherbourg, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, Port en Bessin and Dieppe.

The CRPMEM represents 1,600 fishermen and around 605 boats, contributing to the diversity of Normandy’s fishing industry. The landed value in 2021 is estimated at €172 million (source SIH 2021). The marine farms of Saumon de France and Saumon d’Isigny are also part of our organisation.

The main missions of the CRPMEM are:

To coordinate, in liaison with the National Committee of Maritime Fisheries and Marine Fish Farming, the activities of other committees (departmental and local branches)

To participate in the definition of measures aimed at ensuring the balanced management of marine resources

To ensure that all professions in the sea fishing and marine farming sector are informed of the measures taken by the National Committee of Maritime Fisheries and Marine Fish Farming

To provide technical assistance to sea fishing and marine farming activities in the region

To contribute to experiments, research projects and socio-economic studies and their involvement in the development of marine and aquaculture resources in the region.
