Research objectives

L’objectif central du GIS ECUME est d’appréhender les effets cumulés des principales activités The central objectives of GIS ECUME regarding the impacts of activities at sea (marine aggregates, port operations, fishing, offshore wind farms, submarine cables) are :

• Acquiring scientific knowledge regarding the cumulative impacts these activities;
• Complying with regulations requiring the development of an operational methodology for assessing cumulative effects;
• Provide an exchange forum for scientists and marine professionals with a common objective: the need for to disseminate scientific knowledge and to communicate research results to improve scientific knowledge sharing in the context of marine spatial planning.

These objectives are implemented in the six research topics of the SIG’s scientific programme, conceived by the Steering Committee, the Scientific Council and the SIG’s coordinator:
